StockerYale, Inc. Introduces New Thulium-Doped Optical Fiber Product Line

SALEM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StockerYale, Inc. (NASDAQ: STKR - News), a leading designer and manufacturer of structured light lasers, LED modules and specialty optical fibers for industrial OEMs, medical and defense markets, today announced the availability of a new thulium-doped (Tm-doped) optical fiber product for fiber lasers.

Tm-doped fiber lasers, which lase in the 1800 to 2200 nm range, show substantial promise as eye-safe lasers for LIDAR (contour mapping), remote gas sensing, and other military and security applications. Tm-doped fiber lasers are also expected to be deployed in various medical applications as a potential complement or replacement to Ho:YAG lasers.

This introduction represents an expansion of our product offering into one of the fastest growing and highest potential areas for fiber lasers and positions us to further penetrate key military and biomedical verticals, stated Mark W. Blodgett, Chairman and CEO of StockerYale, Inc.

As with the Company's existing ytterbium, erbium and neodymium-doped fiber products, the new thulium-doped fiber, TDF-1940-6/125, is fabricated using StockerYales proprietary rare-earth doping method. The technique provides a number of measurable advantages, including a homogeneous glass matrix and the ability to control rare-earth content with a high degree of precision.
