StockerYale's Specialty Optical Fibers for the Medical Market
SALEM, N.H, September 12, 2006 — StockerYale, Inc. (NASDAQ: STKR), a leading independent provider of photonics-based products today announced its custom-designed specialty optical fibers for the medical industry.
Utilizing the company’s state-of-the-art preform lathes and its high-speed draw towers, plus its in-house design expertise, the Company is currently working with OEMs to deliver custom-designed, ultra small form factor single mode fibers for the medical industry. The availability of the much smaller form factor fibers is facilitating new applications within the industry.
Optical fibers being delivered by StockerYale presently support OEMs developing products for Cardiology, Angioplasty and Medical Sensing. A variety of specialty coatings can be applied to these single mode fibers, depending on the requirements of the application.
