Do you offer high frequency, flicker-free illumination?
StockerYale's Circular Fluorescent Model 5, Model 8, Model 10, Model 13 Linear Light and Model 18 Superlight are driven at 25kHz. This high frequency driver provides flicker-free illumination. The Model 13+ drives the lamp at approximately 90kHz.

What frequencies are available with your lighting products?
StockerYale's Model 9 is driven at line frequencies of 60Hz in the U.S. and 50Hz in Europe. The Model 5 & Model 8 Circular Fluorescent Vision Illuminator, the Model 10 High Frequency Microscope Illuminator and Model 18 Superlight products are driven at 25kHz. Our Model 13+ Steady Light has a variable intensity control and a 90kHz driver. The Model 13 Linear Lights are also available with variable intensity control and a 90kHz driver.

What advantages does high frequency operation provide?
High frequency fluorescent drivers reduce operator fatigue and eye strain when used for prolonged specimen observation. In addition, the high frequency driver virtually eliminates flicker.

Are long set screws available for my adapters as well as ring lights?
Yes, standard lengths are ½" and 1". StockerYale understands the wide range of applications in which our light sources are used and provides an easy interface to as many microscopes and camera lenses as possible. We provide reference charts to cross our adapters to most standard microscopes. If what you are looking for is not listed, contact our Sales Department. They will be able to provide you with an appropriate solution.

Can your lighting and magnifier products be used in clean room environments?
Most clean room applications require low particle contribution from any item placed within it. StockerYale manufactures a wide variety of stainless steel and injection molded housings for our illumination products that are suitable for clean room use.

What mounting provisions are available for your lighting and magnifier products?
Adjustable bench clamp, magnetic, bolt and cast iron bases are available.

Do you have an adapter to fit my microscope or camera lens?
StockerYale understands the wide range of applications in which our light sources are used and provides an easy interface to as many microscopes and camera lenses as possible. We provide reference charts to cross our adapters to most standard microscopes. If what you are looking for is not listed, contact our Sales Department. They will be able to provide you with an appropriate solution.

Do you offer customized lighting?
A large portion of our business is derived from customized fluorescent and fiber optic. Our optical, mechanical, applications engineering and manufacturing teams are ready to assist you in creating an appropriate lighting solution. Please contact for your custom lighting needs.

What is color temperature?
Color temperature is a reference to the chromaticity of a theoretical black body. When a black body is heated to a certain apparent color of light at a dominant wavelength. The color temperature of a light source is defined at the value of absolute temperature of the theoretical black body where the chromaticity matches that of the light source.

What is the color temperature on your various light products?
The quartz halogen sources used in StockerYale fiber optic illuminators are approximately 3250K, 3400K or 4200K depending on lamp type. It should be noted that color temperature of a tungsten source is dependent on the voltage applied to the lamp. This equates to lower color temperatures at lower intensity settings. If a constant color temperature is required. It is necessary to use a variable aperture iris or neutral density filter to vary light output.

The color temperature for the standard lamps in our linear and circular fluorescent illuminators is 5100K. Other available color temperature lamps are the 3200K, 4200K and 5500K high color rendition. These lamps are typically chosen for specific applications.

Do you offer Ultraviolet lamps?
Yes, we offer UV lamps which operate at a peak wavelength of 365nm for our circular and linear fluorescent illuminators.

What is a yellow lamp used for?
As the peak wavelength of the yellow fluorescent bulb is 585nm, this is used in the semiconductor industry where care must be taken not to expose the photo-resistive materials used in microlithography.

Are international plug options available?
Yes, standard European plug options are available on standard products. Contact factory for all other variations.

Which products are ESD compliant?
The following products are ESD compliant: Model 9 CFMI, Model 10 HFVI, Model 13+ Steady Light and Model 20 Fiber Optic Illuminator. In addition, ESD compliant accessories are also available.
